President Erdoğan Delivers Address on 100th Anniversary of the Republic
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech to the nation on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic. Erdoğan cited examples such as the assistance provided to various nations including Korea, Cyprus, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Karabakh, and now Gaza and Palestine.
President Erdoğan proudly mentioned Turkey’s achievements in the fields of healthcare, infrastructure, and urban development. While the number of hospital beds in 1923 stood at 12,000, it has now reached 268,000. Similarly, the number of physicians has significantly increased, from around 1,000 in 1928 to 194,000 today. He also highlighted the modern railway lines and the astonishing growth in the number of buildings in recent years.
Erdoğan expressed his vision of bringing an additional 6 million houses to Turkish society, with 1.5 million planned for Istanbul.
In terms of defense and national security, Erdoğan announced plans to increase the number of aircraft carriers from one to two through an agreement with Spain for the construction of TCG Anadolu.
President Erdoğan concluded his address by declaring that Turkey enters its second century with determination and a commitment to fulfilling the mission of the Turkish Century.
