Emine Erdoğan Hosts “Vefa Iftar” Program to Honor the Elderly
In a show of respect for the elderly, Emine Erdoğan recently hosted a special “Vefa iftar” program at the State Guest House. The event was closed to the press, but it was reported that President Erdoğan and Emine Erdoğan surprised the elderly attendees with their presence.
After the iftar meal, President Erdoğan and his wife engaged in warm and sincere conversations with the elderly guests. Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş was also in attendance, and a 75-year-old Hafiz named Abdulkadir Saglam recited passages from the Holy Quran.
During the program, the elderly expressed their gratitude for the surprise visit by President Erdoğan and Emine Erdoğan. One of the attendees, Vehibe Sayın, shared that his grandfather was a martyr in Çanakkale, and his wife and son-in-law were martyrs of the 15th of July coup attempt.
Emine Erdoğan later took to her social media accounts to share her experience at the event. She expressed her joy at hosting such esteemed elders at the Nation’s House and thanked President Erdoğan for his support.
