Erhürman discusses recent border gate arrests – BRTK
Tufan Erhürman, Chairman of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party, has raised concerns about recent property-related arrests made by the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus at the border gate. In a statement, Erhürman emphasized that these arrests are being used as political tools, creating “precedent cases” that could have serious implications.
Erhürman highlighted the importance of addressing this issue before it escalates further, pointing out similarities to past cases such as “Orams” and “Hurma”. He specifically mentioned a recent case involving a German citizen who acquired real estate in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, emphasizing the political motives behind the arrests.
The Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party expressed frustration at the lack of attention given to these warnings in the past, stating that the construction industry and overall stability of the region could be negatively impacted. He urged for a serious examination of the situation and called on those who ignored previous warnings to recognize the severity of the current circumstances.
