
Esenyurt’s Population Surpasses 57 Cities

The population of Esenyurt in Istanbul has surpassed 57 cities in Turkey, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. In 2024, Turkey’s total population reached 85 million 664 thousand 944 people, with an increase of 292 thousand 567 people compared to the previous year. Istanbul’s population also rose to 15 million 701 thousand 602 people during the same period.
Esenyurt, with a population of 988 thousand 369 people in 2024, saw an increase of more than 10 thousand people compared to the previous year. This growth placed Esenyurt ahead of cities such as Mardin, Trabzon, Malatya, Erzurum, and Eskisehir, reaching the summit in terms of population.
Following Esenyurt, the most crowded districts in Turkey in 2024 are as follows:
– ÇANKAYA (Ankara) – 947,330 people
– ŞAHİNBEY (GAZİANTEP) – 946,812 people
– Keçiören (Ankara) – 932,128 people
– Şehitkamil (Gaziantep) – 888,696 people
The list also includes districts from Istanbul, Ankara, Gaziantep, Bursa, and Adana.
On the other end of the spectrum, the district with the lowest population in Turkey is Yalıhüyük in Konya, with only 1,678 people. This was followed by Yayladere (1,996 people) in Bingöl and Kızılören (2,034 people) in Afyonkarahisar.
