European Commission Urged by Left-Wing Groups to Replace USAID Funding

Left-wing groups in the European Parliament are calling for the European Commission to step in and provide funding for NGOs and media outlets after the money from USAID was cut off. Fidesz MEP Kinga Gál took to social media to express her concern over this proposal, stating that it would mean using EU taxpayers’ money to support the agendas of these so-called ‘NGOs’ that are funded for ideological purposes and serve the interests of the liberal elite.

International Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács also criticized the move, pointing out that many of these “civil organizations” ceased to exist once the U.S. funding was stopped, showing that they were not truly independent. He stressed that the proposal to use EU taxpayers’ money to fund these failed agendas would only lead to more problems, such as mass migration, ideological extremism, and economic decline in Europe.

Fidesz MEP Csaba Dömötör announced that the Patriots of Europe will take legal action to compel Brussels to disclose EU contracts related to the support of activist organizations. He emphasized that these activist groups do not represent the will of the electorate and are funded to push liberal Brussels politics in every country, posing a threat to the livelihoods of Hungarian families.

The dispute over funding for NGOs and media outlets is not just a matter of EU organizations and politicians but one that affects the policies and well-being of European citizens. The push to use EU taxpayers’ money to fill the gap left by USAID funding reflects a larger issue of external interference in sovereign nations. Hungary remains steadfast in its opposition to this proposal and will continue to fight against it to protect its sovereignty and the interests of its citizens.
