European Council President expresses gratitude to Hungary for effective EU presidency
António Costa, President of the European Council, expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his team for their dedicated work during Hungary’s EU presidency over the past six months. In a social media post, Costa thanked Orbán and the Hungarian Presidency team for their efforts from July to December 2024, stating “Köszönjuk Magyarország!” which translates to “Thank you, Hungary!” Hungary had previously held the EU presidency in the first half of 2011.
Costa also extended a warm welcome to Poland, as they took over the rotating EU presidency from Hungary. He expressed his anticipation for working with Poland and former Council President Donald Tusk towards creating a safer and more secure Europe.
As Hungary concludes its presidency, Costa’s message of appreciation highlights the importance of collaboration and unity within the European Union. The transition from one presidency to another signifies a continuous effort towards achieving common goals and addressing challenges for the benefit of all member states.
