Exams Cancelled as KTOEÖS Strike Persists

Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) President Selma Eylem has announced a strike in schools from 08.30-12.00 on 31st May 2023. In her statement, Eylem accused the UBP-DP-YDP government and the Minister of National Education of attacking teachers and the society at large, and trying to discredit and weaken them. She also claimed that there were ulterior motives behind these attacks, which went beyond the law. As a result, exams will not be held during the strike, and Eylem urged society, trade unions and political parties to take sides against the pressure and oppression imposed on them. The Ministry of Education will be responsible for the resulting chaos.
