Excavation and Identification of Mass Grave in Mandriya Village for Burial in TRNC

The Nationalist Democracy Party (MDP) is urging for the remains of Turkish Cypriot martyrs to be exhumed, identified, and buried in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). This request comes two years after the discovery of a mass grave in the Mandriya village in Southern Cyprus.

Nicosia District Chairman Hüseyin Mert Coşkun expressed disappointment that no action has been taken despite the pleas from 21 families of the martyrs. Together with Benan Gönen, President of the Martyrs’ Families Association, and Osman Arık, the son of one of the martyrs buried in the mass grave, Coşkun visited the village to pay tribute to the Turkish Cypriot martyrs and show support for their families’ quest for justice. He emphasized the need for political will to address this issue.

Coşkun stated, “In order to honor the memory of our martyrs and bring peace to their families, the Nationalist Democracy Party is determined to continue the fight for their proper burial.” The party is committed to pushing for the necessary steps to be taken in order to give these fallen heroes the respect they deserve.
