Exciting Cultural Festival “Hungarian Days” Begins Tomorrow in Transylvania!

The 14th Hungarian Days cultural festival is set to kick off tomorrow in Brasov, Transylvania, running from 15 to 22 September with a lineup of 50 diverse and exciting programmes, according to the event organisers.

Known as the largest cultural festival of ethnic Hungarians in the southern region, the festival will commence with a mass on Sunday morning followed by an opening gala featuring the renowned István Pál Szalonna and Band folk music group as special guests.

One of the highlights of the festival will be a concert by the world-famous 100-member Gypsy Orchestra on 21 September at the main stage set up in the city’s central square. In addition to musical performances, the festival’s itinerary includes a range of thought-provoking programmes such as a scientific conference and roundtable discussions on historical topics like the Transylvanian Saxons’ 800 years of autonomy and privileges granted by King Andrew II, as well as contemporary issues like Hungarian-Turkish relations and the state of print media.

Film enthusiasts can also look forward to the screening of Lajos Koltai’s movie “Semmelweis,” Hungary’s submission for consideration for an Academy Award in the best international film category this year.

For those interested in more hands-on experiences, the festival will offer activities such as a makers’ market, wine-tasting sessions, folk dance workshops for children, guided city tours, and a veteran and retro car show.

With such a diverse range of programmes and activities on offer, the 14th Hungarian Days cultural festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of Hungarian culture and heritage in Brasov.
