The Hungarian government has recently unveiled a stunning video on Youtube showcasing the latest developments on Lake Balaton. According to the Minister for National Economy, Márton Nagy, four new ships, including two ferries and two catamarans, have been introduced to the lake, marking the biggest development in the past 40 years.
In the video, Minister Nagy emphasized the government’s commitment to tourism development, with a particular focus on enhancing tourism activities on Lake Balaton. He highlighted the environmentally friendly features of the new ships, which are powered by electric propulsion and offer a higher cruising speed compared to older vessels. Furthermore, a new catamaran named “Tomaj” will begin operating on the popular Fonyód-Badacsony route starting this spring. The introduction of this catamaran is part of efforts to enhance the visitor experience and meet the growing demand for transportation services on Lake Balaton.
During a handover ceremony in Siófok, Minister Nagy expressed optimism about the upcoming tourist season, citing an increase in guest nights in both the capital and the countryside. The government expects a significant rise in the number of nights spent in Hungary this year, with early reservations for the Easter weekend already exceeding expectations.
