The full-price ticket for this combination experience costs HUF 6,500, while a discounted ticket is available for HUF 2,500 for children aged 3 to 14, as reported by BKV. The ticket includes a round-trip ride on the Buda Castle Funicular and a relaxing journey on the circular boat service.
Purchase and validity
These combination tickets can be purchased at the lower and upper stations of the funicular as well as on board the boats. Payment is accepted only by card, and the tickets are valid for 30 days from the date of purchase.
Important note
It’s essential to mention that these combination tickets do not apply to BKV’s evening cruise services.
This new offering aims to provide tourists and locals with a convenient and cost-effective option to experience two of Budapest’s iconic transport modes and sightseeing opportunities.
The Buda Castle Funicular
The Buda Castle Funicular, operating for 155 years since 1870, has seen several modernizations over the years. The funicular’s lower station at Clark Ádám Square is easily reachable from BKV’s Várkert Bazár dock, offering a historic and scenic ride up to Buda Castle.
BKV circular boat services
Since the summer of 2024, BKV’s circular boat services have been running between Kossuth Lajos Square and Petőfi Square, providing a unique perspective of Budapest’s city center. The boat trips include stops at notable landmarks such as Margaret Island Centenary Monument, Batthyány Square, and Várkert Bazár.
Both the Buda Castle Funicular and the circular boat services are popular among tourists, offering distinct ways to explore Budapest’s beauty and history. More information on these experiences can be found in Hungarian and English on BKV’s website.
