Exclusive Interview: İstanbul Mayor İmamoğlu Reveals Monthly Income and Answers 36 Burning Questions
The safety statement of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu has shed light on corruption and terrorist investigations. Imamoglu testified for 4 hours and 15 minutes, answering 121 pages of questions. He stated that he will provide more detailed testimony in the prosecution’s statement.
Imamoglu, who was accused of leading a criminal organization for personal gain, refused to benefit from any effective regret provisions, stating that he had not committed any crimes. He also clarified that past mayors, including Kadir Topbaş, Ali Müfit Gürtuna, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, did not participate in tenders or sign tender results during their terms.
Imamoglu expressed his frustration with the political interference and struggle against him, stating, “I will answer the questions I see necessary.” He refused to answer 28 questions regarding secret witnesses and the MASAK report, emphasizing that he did not understand the questions.
After the questioning, Imamoglu remarked that the reputation of Turkey and democracy had been damaged by false accusations and conspiracy theories. He vowed to defend himself and the people of Istanbul against these allegations.
Imamoglu also disclosed his monthly income as 250 thousand pounds, stating that he had declared all his real estate, vehicles, and assets. He promised to fight for the rights of the people of Istanbul and uphold justice in the face of these allegations.
