Fashion Street in Budapest is known for its beautiful copper fronts and world-famous brands, offering the best views of the city. Recently, a new attraction has arrived on the street, drawing attention to some unique LEGO Mercedes cars and a Mercedes-Benz G class.
The street is already home to the magical life-sized LEGO tram at Deák Ferenc Square, which was built with nearly 1.8 million colourful bricks. This extraordinary masterpiece represents Budapest’s rich tram traditions and showcases the everyday magic that LEGO products bring to the Hungarian capital.
What makes the LEGO tram even more exceptional is that it is the only LEGO block building of its kind in the world that is this big and functional. Unlike other life-size LEGO vehicles made with Technic flexible elements, the tram was constructed using only classic LEGO blocks, presenting a unique challenge in making it move.
Connecting Deák Ferenc Square with Vörösmarty Square, where one of Budapest’s most beautiful Christmas markets is held, Fashion Street is currently featuring a collaboration between Mercedes and LEGO. Brick Galaxy, a Hungarian LEGO fan group, created an installation on the street that includes a Mercedes-Benz model under a glass trellis, alongside a realistic LEGO twin of the car.
Péter Oláh, the marketing director of LEGO Hungária Ltd, emphasized the celebration of two great brands coming together in this exhibition, showcasing the infinite creativity and power of LEGO bricks. The installation was made possible with the support of the Human Telex Advertising & Event team, who highlighted the quick realization of the idea on Budapest’s Fashion Street.
