Experience the Charming Winter Music Festival in Lillafüred
The Festival Academy Budapest (FAB) is set to host a Winter Festival at the Hotel Palota in Lillafüred, part of Miskolc in northeastern Hungary, from January 24 to 26. This event will feature concerts and literary performances, offering a unique cultural experience for attendees.
Established last year, the Winter Festival is an integral part of the FAB’s annual program. The organization was founded a decade ago by Barnabás Kelemen and Katalin Kokas, two prominent figures in the Hungarian cultural scene.
The festival lineup includes morning and afternoon tea and salon concerts, literary performances, talks, and evening concerts. Renowned artists such as Argentine pianist José Gallardo, Hungarian conductor András Keller, Austrian violist Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg, harpist Andrea Vigh, and cellists Dóra Kokas and László Fenyő will be performing.
Additionally, Gypsy music will be represented by Lajos Sárközy Jr. and his orchestra, alongside talented young musicians like Gáspar Kelemen and Hanna Kelemen. The Imre Kertész Institute will present a musical performance of Imre Kertész’s “Kaddis” (Kaddish for an Unborn Child), adding a poignant touch to the festival.
János Mácsai, a music historian and festival host, will delve into the world of numerical mysticism through the music of Bach and explore the fascinating history of composer Felix Mendelssohn’s family.
In exciting news, this year’s FAB festivals will include a Springfest in the Őrség region of western Hungary in May, showcasing a diverse range of musical and cultural performances.
Participants are encouraged to register for certain concerts, as availability may be limited due to hotel occupancy. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage and artistic talent on display at the Winter Festival in Lillafüred.
