Experience the Holy Mosque: Hear and Touch the Kaaba Stone

Edirne, a city steeped in history and culture, has recently seen a surge in visitors thanks to its famous landmarks and sacred sites. Edirne Provincial Mufti Ercan Aksu highlighted the significance of the Old Mosque, Selimiye Mosque, and three Honor Mosques in forming a religious tourism “Golden Triangle” in the region.
One of the main attractions drawing visitors to the Old Mosque is the Kaaba stone, displayed alongside intricate line writings. Aksu noted that the recent exhibition of the Kaaba cover has led to a spike in visitors, with expectations of reaching a peak in the near future.
Imam Hatibi Ismail Sen, a specialist at the Old Mosque, emphasized the importance of Edirne’s historical and cultural heritage, with structures like the Selimiye Mosque and the three Honor Mosques playing a key role. Sen also mentioned the recent arrival of the Kaaba cover to the Old Mosque, thanks to the efforts of Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer.
The Old Mosque, built in the early 15th century, stands as a masterpiece of Turkish-Islamic art. Despite suffering damage from fires and earthquakes over the centuries, the mosque has been meticulously restored to its former glory.
With an increase in visitors not only from Turkey but also from neighboring countries like Bulgaria and Greece, the Old Mosque continues to attract those seeking to connect with its rich history and religious significance. The opportunity to touch the revered Kaaba stone further enhances the spiritual experience for visitors to this historic site.
