Expert Explains Details of Debt Forgiveness in General Health Insurance
Social Security Institution provides health services to employees and retirees. However, those who are not covered by any social security can benefit from the service by paying their own premiums. In addition, people who have health insurance registration but are unable to pay their premiums can restructure their debt. This opportunity was explained by Social Security Specialist Murat Bal who stated that all citizens in the country have health insurance within the scope of social security, and about 9.1 million of them are covered by it. While two million pay their premiums under the General Health Insurance premium, the remaining seven million are covered by the treasury as their income test is low.
For those who want to take advantage of this configuration, they can pay their debts in installments starting from August 31st, for debts before December 2022. No application is needed for General Health Insurance debts and the installment options are 12, 18, 24, 26 and 48 months. It is advised for citizens to always check their e-government accounts to keep up with their debt status and health care.
Overall, this initiative aims to make healthcare services accessible to a broader segment of the population and help those who are unable to pay their premiums. Therefore, people who are in a difficult financial situation or have accumulated debt can benefit from this restructuring option.
