
Experts Analyze President Tokayev’s Government Meeting Address

Kazakh President Tokayev Reviews Country’s Socio-Economic Development and Outlines Priorities for Future
Astana – Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently led an expanded government meeting to assess the country’s socio-economic progress in 2024 and highlight key focus areas for the government moving forward.
During the meeting, President Tokayev stressed the importance of conducting thorough analysis and implementing effective measures in critical sectors such as the economy, infrastructure projects, and social support to enhance public trust in government institutions.
Various experts from different fields shared their perspectives on the president’s key messages, emphasizing the need for comprehensive reforms and improvements in various areas.
Education and healthcare reforms were highlighted as pivotal aspects of the government’s agenda. Anna Alshanskaya, the head of the Economic Policy Analysis Department at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, praised the initiatives aimed at enhancing education quality and accessibility. She mentioned ongoing projects such as the completion of the national Comfortable School initiative by 2025 and the development of modern support schools across the country.
Additionally, efforts to upgrade 1,300 schools in the next three years to address classroom shortages and modernize vocational education were also underlined.
Regarding healthcare, Alshanskaya pointed out the national Modernization of Rural Healthcare project which saw the construction of 460 medical facilities in 2024. The completion of all planned healthcare facilities by the end of 2026 was urged by both the government and regional authorities.
President Tokayev also emphasized the importance of revising social support mechanisms and enhancing the health insurance system through legislative reforms to meet evolving healthcare needs.
In terms of strengthening regional ties, financial analyst Andrei Chebotarev highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing cooperation with neighboring countries, a point that was reinforced in President Tokayev’s remarks. The emphasis on enhancing collaborations with Central Asian nations, Russia, and other Eurasian Economic Union partners in various sectors aligns with the country’s foreign policy priorities.
Chebotarev also mentioned Tokayev’s directive to expedite the development of transport infrastructure, particularly the Trans-Kazakhstan Railway Corridor, as a vital component of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. He emphasized the importance of developing multimodal transport hubs to integrate different modes of transportation and leverage Kazakhstan’s strategic geographical location and transport infrastructure.
Overall, the government’s commitment to advancing education, healthcare, and regional partnerships underscores its determination to drive socio-economic development and enhance Kazakhstan’s standing on the global stage.
