Experts issue desert dust warning: Wear a mask for protection
Meteorological Engineer Dr. Güven Özdemir issued a warning about the intense desert dust future of Mali during the week. He highlighted the importance of desert dust and its effects on various regions around the world. According to Dr. Özdemir, desert dust from deserts is carried to the upper levels of the atmosphere by convective movements and then transported by western winds to other countries. This dust can have both negative and positive effects, with an estimated 2 billion tons of dust being carried from deserts worldwide.
Dr. Özdemir also warned about the potential negative health effects of the increasing dust transportation in Turkey. He mentioned that people with respiratory diseases, asthma, children, and the elderly may experience difficulty breathing and advised them to wear masks. The quality of the dust can also affect the water and lands, with the Aegean and western regions being particularly impacted.
In addition, Dr. Özdemir discussed the impact of the Lodos wind on temperatures in Turkey, with temperatures expected to rise significantly until Friday. However, a low pressure system will bring cooler temperatures to the western regions over the weekend.
Residents, such as Caner Altikat and Yasemin Değirmencioğlu, shared their experiences of the dust in the air and its effects on their daily lives. Altikat mentioned the need to wash his car more frequently due to the dust, while Değirmencioğlu advised the elderly and patients to stay indoors if possible.
