Under the leadership of the Gallipoli Historical Area Presidency, the project aims to educate visitors about the crucial role of medical professionals during the historic battles.

The Alçıtepe Hilal-i Ahmer Hospital Open Air Exhibition, the first phase of the project, was unveiled to the public on March 18, 2018. This exhibition has become a popular attraction in the historical area, drawing in many visitors interested in learning about the healthcare services during the Gallipoli Battles.

The second phase of the project, the “1915 Çanakkale Battles Sanitary Museum,” was completed with the support of Konya Selçuklu Municipality and the University of Health Sciences. This museum was officially opened to visitors on August 10, 2021, offering a deeper insight into the medical care provided to wounded soldiers and civilians during the battles.

Visitors to the museum can explore displays showcasing the work of doctors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in Hilal-i Ahmer Hospitals. The museum features recreations of medical interventions, surgeries, laboratory studies, and oral and dental treatments provided to the injured soldiers. Additionally, there are displays of wards for injured soldiers, as well as women’s and children’s wards.

Local and foreign guests visiting the “1915 Gallipoli Battles Sanitary Museum” have the unique opportunity to understand the significant role of health services behind the front lines during the Gallipoli Battles. Through period photographs and immersive exhibits, visitors can gain a new appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of medical professionals during wartime.
