EZKOOP convenes meeting to discuss carob agenda with BRTK
Trade Craftsmen and Producers Marketing Cooperative (EZKOOP) is taking action to prevent the extinction of carob and bring value to the product. Tomorrow, the cooperative will hold a meeting in Büyükkonuk at 20:00, which will be attended by producers.
EZKOOP Board Chairman, Hürrem Tulga, stated in a press release that the carob harvest is almost complete, but many harvested carob is stored in bags or out in the open in most areas. Tulga emphasized the importance of protecting the carob tree and its products, noting that Mediterranean countries provide support for the protection and reproduction of carob trees, implementing additional payments or setting base prices.
However, Tulga expressed concern that authorities in the country do not prioritize this product and that there are uncertainties surrounding its future. For this reason, producers will gather at the Büyükkonuk Olive Coop Facilities tomorrow to take necessary steps to prevent the disappearance of carob and enhance the product’s value.
The producer meeting, open to the press, will commence at 20:00. It is an opportunity for stakeholders to come together, discuss issues related to carob production, and work towards ensuring the sustainability and growth of this valuable product.
