Fahrettin Altun: Turkey’s Commitment to Peace, Truth, and Justice
Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun recently delivered a speech at the closing of the International Strategic Communication Summit 2024 (Stratcom Summit 2024) held in Istanbul. During his address, Altun highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence for humanity and the challenges it presents. The forum brought together experts from various sectors and disciplines, including the public sector, media, academia, and international organizations, to discuss the risks and opportunities associated with artificial intelligence.
Altun emphasized the need for cooperation and discussed a wide range of issues related to public communication, public relations, crisis communication, transparency, data security, cyber security, and media ethics in the context of artificial intelligence. The summit was attended by 175 guests and more than 2,000 listeners from 30 countries, making it a significant platform for international collaboration in the field of strategic communication.
One of the key messages from the summit was the importance of ethical values in the use of artificial intelligence technologies. Altun stressed the role of governments in ensuring that digital transformation processes are inclusive and free from discrimination. The participants also discussed the empowerment of individuals to counter disinformation and misinformation through digitalization and emphasized the responsibility of states in developing artificial intelligence technologies in alignment with ethical values and truth.
Altun reiterated the summit’s commitment to using artificial intelligence for the global benefit and the advancement of all humanity. He highlighted the need to humanize artificial intelligence and ensure that it does not undermine fundamental human values. The summit declaration of intent underscored the importance of protecting personal data, promoting cyber security, and fostering digital literacy to mitigate the risks associated with artificial intelligence.
Altun concluded his speech by expressing gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his support and thanked all the participants for their contributions. He expressed optimism about the future of the summit and looked forward to meeting everyone again at next year’s event.
