TRNC Delegation Returns from Adıyaman
The delegation from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has returned after attending the first part of the hearings in Adıyaman. The hearings are related to the collapse of İsias Hotel during the earthquakes on February 6, which claimed the lives of 72 people, including 35 Turkish Cypriot athletes and teachers.
The delegation, which participated in the hearings of the 11 defendants, including 5 who are currently detained, was led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu. The hearings began on January 3 at Adıyaman 3rd High Criminal Court and lasted for 4 days.
Ataoğlu affirmed that they will continue to follow the case until it is concluded, in line with their promise to the deceased individuals. He thanked the people of TRNC for their support and emphasized the importance of standing together in difficult times.
The President of the Champion Angels Keeping Alive Association, Ruşen Karakaya, also expressed his determination to continue the fight for justice for the victims and to ensure that the perpetrators receive the maximum punishment. He stressed the need for unity and support in the long legal process ahead.
Karakaya expressed gratitude to the legal team, government officials, members of parliament, and all the supporters who have stood by the families of the victims. He reiterated their commitment to the cause, emphasizing that champions do not die and justice will prevail.
The next hearing is scheduled for April 26, and the families of the victims are prepared for a long and challenging legal battle. The case holds significant importance as it is expected to set a precedent for similar incidents in the future.
