Fatal Accident in Balıkesir: 1 Dead, 4 Injured
A tragic accident occurred in the Edremit district of Balıkesir, resulting in the death of Mehmet Yıldırım and injuries to 4 other people after a minibus crashed into the median and overturned.
The incident took place around 00.30 on Ülkü Road in Altınkum District. The minibus, with the license plate number 10 ALU 102, lost control, skidded, hit the median, and flipped over. 5 people inside the minibus sustained injuries. The fire brigade, police, and medical teams rushed to the scene after receiving reports from nearby residents. Firefighters had to extract two individuals who were trapped in the vehicle. The injured, including the minibus driver Hüseyin Yıldırım and his brother Mehmet Yıldırım, were taken to Edremit State Hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Mehmet Yıldırım passed away.
The police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
