Fatal Accident Suspect Detained for 3 Days
Fatal Traffic Accident on Famagusta-Nicosia Main Road
Tragedy struck on the Famagusta-Nicosia main road yesterday when a traffic accident resulted in the death of a 93-year-old woman. The incident occurred at approximately 16:30 and was caused by a driver’s failure to yield at a controlled road junction.
According to reports from the Police Press Officer, Havva Ulusular, a 40-year-old driver, neglected to obey the stop and give way sign at the İnönü controlled road junction and carelessly entered the main road without giving right of way to oncoming traffic. This action led to a collision with a vehicle driven by Kemal Süleymanoğulları, who was traveling on the Famagusta-Nicosia main road at the time.
As a result of the accident, 54-year-old Melek Süleymanoğulları, 93-year-old Melek Süleymanoğulları, and Havva Ulusular sustained injuries and were promptly taken to Famagusta State Hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save her, 93-year-old Melek Süleymanoğulları succumbed to her injuries and passed away at 22:30. The severity of the incident prompted authorities to arrest Havva Ulusular following her discharge from the hospital.
Today, Ulusular appeared in court and was detained for 3 days in connection with the accident. The tragic outcome serves as a reminder of the importance of obeying traffic signs and exercising caution on the road to prevent further loss of life. The community mourns the passing of Melek Süleymanoğulları and extends condolences to her loved ones during this difficult time.
