Fatal Collision in Izmir: Car Unrecognizable after Crash with Passenger Bus, 1 Dead and 3 Injured
A tragic accident occurred on the İzmir-Ankara highway at the Bağyurdu OSB Junction around 22.30 involving a passenger bus and a car. The passenger bus, belonging to Kamil Koç company and driven by Hakki Akim, collided with a car driven by Abdullah Demir, causing the car to be dragged for approximately 200 meters under the bus.
As a result of the collision, Abdullah Demir and three passengers in the car, Hacer Duman, Ela Nur Duman, and Meryem Ercan, were injured and trapped in the vehicle. Emergency services, including fire brigade, health, gendarmerie, and police teams, were immediately dispatched to the scene to rescue the injured individuals.
Abdullah Demir and Hacer Duman were in life-threatening condition and were rushed to Turgutlu State Hospital for treatment. Despite all efforts, Abdullah Demir tragically lost his life at the hospital. HD’s condition remains critical.
Meanwhile, the passengers on the bus were transferred to another bus to continue their journey, while the bus driver, Hakki Akim, was taken to the gendarmerie center for questioning. An investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
