“Fatal Fight in Izmir Leads to 5 Arrests”
A deadly shooting occurred on May 11 in Cüneytbey Neighborhood, where two rival groups met in a coffee house to resolve their issues. The incident left seven people injured, and five people dead; three on the scene and two in the hospital. Timuçin Altınel, Süreyya Bayrak, Barış Coşgun, Rıdvan Bağcalı, and Ozancan Doğan, who died, were buried after the incident. The severely injured MY and AK are still receiving treatment. The suspects fled the scene, but police detained nine of the 11 suspects for whom detention warrants were issued. After the proceedings, five of the seven suspects who were transferred to the courthouse were arrested, and two were released on judicial control. Two more suspects were caught yesterday, and the proceedings of the four suspects in custody are ongoing.
The parties involved in the shooting owned coffee houses close to one another, and there was hostility between them due to customer snatching. It is alleged that the group that fired the pistols was attacked by the other party seven to eight months ago. The parties’ met to end hostilities, but the discussion broke out, leading to the tragic shooting.
