Fatal outcome in Antalya drag race: 1 dead, 1 injured
Two motorcycle drivers were involved in a tragic accident at the Kepez Drag Track in the Odabaşı neighborhood of Kepez at 16.00. Osman Özgen and Mustafa A. were participating in a competition on the track, which was the first Drag track of the Mediterranean Region and opened to motor sports enthusiasts in 2018 by Kepez Municipality, when they collided with concrete barriers.
Emergency services were immediately contacted, and health and gendarmerie teams rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, Osman Özgen lost his life in the accident, while Mustafa A. sustained serious injuries. Mustafa A. was quickly taken to Antalya City Hospital for treatment after receiving initial care from 112 Emergency Service teams.
Following the necessary investigations by the Gendarmerie and Crime Scene Investigation teams, Osman Özgen’s body was transferred to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. Mustafa A. is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, with his condition being closely monitored for any developments.
An investigation has been launched by the Gendarmerie teams to determine the cause of the accident and ensure accountability. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
