Major Operation Against FETÖ’s Network in Turkey
In a significant crackdown on the FETÖ terrorist organization, Turkish authorities have detained 208 suspects linked to the group’s current organizational structure. The operation, coordinated by the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, targeted various locations across 47 provinces, including Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Sanliurfa, and Adiyaman.
Ali Yerlikaya, the Minister of Interior, announced this operation via social media, detailing the extensive efforts undertaken by security forces. "The operations we organized simultaneously have revealed the current structuring of FETÖ," he stated, highlighting the group’s entrenched presence in multiple regions.
Yerlikaya explained that intelligence operations led by the General Directorate of Security, along with various police departments, played a crucial role in identifying the methods used by FETÖ members to supply their elements. This included insights gained from overseas camps where some members were reportedly taken.
During the coordinated raids, security forces seized a substantial amount of organizational documents and digital materials tied to the suspects. This evidence was obtained through investigations of companies established by the organization’s members, indicating a well-structured network operating in both domestic and international environments.
The operation underscores Turkey’s ongoing fight against terrorism and reinforces the government’s commitment to dismantling the structures of FETÖ, widely accused of orchestrating failed coups and other acts against national security.
