Fidesz MEP Criticizes “Ridiculous” EU Report on Hungary

Hungary’s ruling party, Fidesz, has dismissed the European Parliament’s latest report as an attempt at blackmail and pressure. Balázs Hidvéghi, Fidesz MEP, claims that they are insisting Hungary should not be given any funds it is entitled to and that the country is not fit to hold the EU Presidency in 2024. The report has been reviewed across various political groups, including Hungarian liberal MEP Katalin Cseh. Hidvéghi argued that left-wing Hungarian MEPs have been attacking their own country for years, and the debate on the report will be held on Wednesday. The vote will take place on Thursday.
