Fields Covered in White Hailstorm
The hailstorm that hit Çameli district in Denizli yesterday afternoon has now made its way to Acıpayam district, causing widespread damage in Akalan District. Akalan, known for its melon and watermelon production, was hit hardest by the hailstorm, which lasted for about half an hour and blanketed the area in a white cover resembling snow.
The aftermath of the hailstorm was compounded by heavy rain, leading to floods and flash floods in some areas. The hail deposits left on the soil have caused significant financial losses in fields planted with vegetables, particularly pumpkins and watermelons.
Acıpayam Municipality has deployed teams from the Directorate of Technical Affairs to assess the damage caused by the hailstorm. The extent of the damage is currently being evaluated as farmers and residents begin to assess the impact on their crops and properties.
