Fifth World Nomad Games to Feature 20 National Sports
The fifth World Nomad Games are set to take place in Astana from Sept. 8-14, featuring 20 traditional competitive sports, the games’ press service reported on Jan. 6. The diverse range of activities includes horse races, national wrestling, traditional intellectual games, martial arts competitions, traditional archery, national bird hunting, horseback riding, and folk games.
In addition to these traditional activities, the games will also feature demonstrations of more modern sports. Overall, 110 sets of medals will be awarded to the participants.
The event will also include the opening of an ethno-village, or ethnoauyl, a day before the games’ opening ceremony. As preparations for the games continue, anticipation is building for the celebration of the unique cultural heritage and sporting traditions at the World Nomad Games.
