Final Farewell: Sırrı Süreyya Önder’s Last Journey
Memorial Service for Sirri Süreyya Önder at Atatürk Cultural Center
Sirri Süreyya Önder, the Deputy Chairman of the Grand National Assembly and a prominent member of the Dem Party, passed away after an 18-day struggle with heart disease. His health deteriorated significantly while he was being treated at Florence Nightingale Hospital in Şişli. A memorial service will be held today at 11:00 AM at the Atatürk Cultural Center.
Following the funeral prayer at the Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Levent, Önder’s body will be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery. Those wishing to pay their respects can do so by offering condolences at various provincial and district organizations of the Dem Party.
Timeline of Events
Önder was rushed to the hospital on April 15 at 10:41 PM due to a series of severe health conditions, including respiratory issues and cardiac arrest. He was diagnosed with "aortic dissection," which led to significant medical interventions, including an aortic valve replacement and aortic surgery. Initially treated in the intensive care unit, Önder’s health status took a turn for the worse on April 28, as his life became increasingly threatened and his reflexes diminished.
Sirri Süreyya Önder leaves behind a legacy in Turkish politics, and he will be remembered by many for his contributions and dedication.
