Finalized Candidates announced by Supreme Election Board

The Supreme Election Board in Cyprus has announced the final list of candidates for the Parliamentary and Local Organization Bodies By-election, which is scheduled for June 25, 2023. The YSK has announced the names of the candidates, which include Sami Özuslu from CTP, Ali Başman from UBP, Serhan Aktunç from DP, and Figen Yaman Lesinger from YDP. Umut Ersoy from Independence Road and a few independent candidates are also in the running.

The YSK announcement has also finalized the parliamentary candidacy of Çetin Sadeli, Mert Taşkın, Talip Sancar, Nazım Özsever, Meriç Erülkü, Alper Özsakınç, and Abdullah Korkmazhan. The headman of Nicosia Yenicami District will be one of Mehmet Soft, Adnan Getirmez, Mehmet Çamır, or Selim Özdemir.

The YSK has further stated that certain candidates were elected because the number of candidates was equal to or less than the number of people to be elected. These include Hasan Akkuş for the membership of the council of elders in Nicosia Selimiye District, Şermin Kasap for the membership of the board of elders in Yeniboğaziçi, and Hasan Korkmaz for Erenköy-Karpaz Derince Board Member Candidate.

Erenköy-Karpaz/Polat Paşa Neighborhood Candidates Nezaket Çebi and Murat Akgün, Nagihan İlktaç for the board of elders, and Tahir Alşan for the membership of the board of elders in Lefke – Bademliköy were also accepted as elected.

The YSK has ensured that the election process will be transparent, fair and impartial. All eligible voters are urged to participate in the upcoming by-elections.
