Finance Minister Berova Hosts TRNC Hunting Federation President Saygıner and Delegation

Meeting Highlights Importance of Hunting Culture in TRNC
In a recent gathering, Finance Minister Özdemir Berova met with the President of the TRNC Hunting Federation, Tahir Saygıner, alongside board members, to discuss the vital role of hunting in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The meeting underscored the cultural significance of hunting and its historical roots within the region.
Minister Berova acknowledged the longstanding tradition of hunting, noting its presence in many households, often passed down through generations. He emphasized that this cultural heritage is prevalent, given the population structure of the TRNC, and that the Hunting Federation plays an essential role in preserving and promoting this tradition.
During his address, Berova highlighted the Federation’s multi-faceted responsibilities, which include breeding hunting animals, releasing them into the wild, and managing hunting areas. He assured the Federation of the government’s commitment to support these initiatives within legal frameworks and available resources.
Tahir Saygıner elaborated on the Federation’s operations, revealing it has more than 13,000 members and operates under its own budget. However, he expressed concerns regarding the current financial limitations, stating that the budget managed by the central hunting commission is no longer sufficient for the Federation’s needs.
Saygıner also brought up the issue of outdated operational vehicles, which have been in use for 15 years. He called for immediate replacement of these vehicles, highlighting that they have become increasingly difficult to maintain and control.
The meeting served as a platform for dialogue about the importance of hunting culture in the TRNC and the need for support to ensure its sustainability for future generations.
