Fine of 660 Thousand Lira for Hunting Endangered Wild Goat

District Gendarmerie Command teams took swift action yesterday after receiving a tip-off about illegal hunting of wild goats in the Cudi Mountain region of the Kösreli village countryside. The teams collaborated with the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate to apprehend the culprit, identified as S.B., who was hunting wild goats in the area.

As a result of the joint operation, the individual was slapped with a hefty fine of 660 thousand lira for violating wildlife protection laws. It is worth noting that wild goats are a protected and endangered species, and hunting them is strictly prohibited.

Orhan Kalay, the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Manager, emphasized that the Cudi and Gabar mountains, along with the Beytüşşebap, İdil, and Uludere districts, serve as crucial habitats for wild goats. Kalay underscored the importance of preserving these animals and raising awareness about their conservation.

He stated, “A person who hunted wild goats has been fined 650 thousand liras in compensation, along with an additional 10 thousand liras for breaching the Land Hunting Law No. 4915. These majestic creatures are under protection due to their endangered status, and it is vital for our citizens to demonstrate sensitivity towards their conservation.”

The incident serves as a reminder of the significance of safeguarding wildlife and the environment, urging everyone to play their part in preserving the natural ecosystem for future generations.
