Illegal Hunting of Protected Species Discovered in Turkey
The Kaş Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate in Turkey recently received a tip-off about illegal hunting taking place in the Yaylacık area of Çataloluk Neighborhood. Upon investigation, the teams discovered that two individuals had hunted 45 bee-eaters, a species that is protected by the decisions of the Central Hunting Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
As a result of their actions, the hunters were fined a total of 16,514 lira for violating the Land Hunting Law No. 4915. Additionally, they were ordered to pay a compensation of 67,500 lira for the 45 bee-eaters they had illegally hunted. Furthermore, an unlicensed hunting rifle was confiscated from the perpetrators.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting endangered species and the consequences of illegal hunting. The Kaş Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate continues to work diligently to protect wildlife and preserve the natural beauty of the region.
