Investigation Launched After Pitbull Incident in Bakirkoy Square, Istanbul
The Istanbul Police Department has initiated an investigation following an incident involving a pitbull dog in Bakirkoy Square, which was widely shared on social media.
According to reports, the pitbull was observed without a muzzle and was involved in a confrontation with other dogs. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that the dog did not attack any individuals during the incident. Eyewitnesses captured the altercation on mobile phone cameras, providing vital evidence for the ongoing investigation.
The owner of the pitbull, identified only as B.T., has been penalized in accordance with animal protection laws, receiving a hefty fine of 6,923 Turkish Lira (approximately $500). Additionally, legal proceedings have been initiated against her on charges of intentionally endangering public safety.
This incident highlights concerns regarding dog ownership and public safety, particularly in urban areas where interactions between pets and bystanders can lead to conflicts.
