Fire Breaks Out at Antalya Nursing Home, Residents Impacted by Smoke
A fire broke out in a private nursing home in Antalya, Turkey, when an air conditioner exploded. The incident occurred on the first floor of a 5-storey nursing home located in the Toros Neighbourhood of the Konyaaltı district. Employees quickly responded to the fire alarm and alerted the authorities. Police, firefighters, and medical teams rushed to the scene to assist.
The firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, but three people, Yüksel Çankaya, Kerim Güven, and Ahmet Şükrü Peker, were affected by the smoke and had to be evacuated from the building. They were taken to the hospital for treatment. Other residents of the nursing home were also safely evacuated by the emergency teams. After being checked by medical professionals, the residents were allowed to return to their rooms.
One resident, Ali Yıldız (86), described how he suddenly woke up and was able to safely evacuate the building. His daughter, Gülbahar Bal (58), expressed her relief that her father was unharmed and shared her concern for the others affected by the fire.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the air conditioner explosion to prevent similar incidents in the future.Residents are advised to be vigilant and ensure that safety measures are in place to prevent fires in their homes.
