“Fire Drill Conducted for Emergency Response Training”

The first Fire and Emergency Response Exercise was carried out in Yukarı Dikmen under the General Directorate of Police’s coordination, with the contributions of various stakeholders in North Cyprus. The Ministry of Health, Civil Defense Organization Presidency, Forestry Department, Dikmen Municipality, Radyo Güven, and Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority supported the exercise. The event simulated an accident caused by a drunk driver and the series of incidents that resulted from it.

Deputy Fire Brigade Director Ramadan Gürpınar emphasized the importance of stakeholder support and risk management in effective disaster management. He also highlighted the increasing responsibility of the fire brigade due to urbanization. President Ersin Tatar, who also gave a speech, drew attention to the rising number of fatal accidents and the necessity of being well-prepared for potential natural disasters.

After the exercise, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia Metin Feyzioğlu congratulated TRNC and thanked all those who contributed to the exercise. Feyzioğlu also expressed his commitment to providing tools and equipment to maximize earthquake preparedness in TRNC.
