President Ersin Tatar Updates on Tatlısu-Mersinlik Fire Situation
President Ersin Tatar has provided an update on the Tatlısu-Mersinlik fire, stating that the situation is largely under control and that efforts to cool the area will continue.
During his inspection of the fire scene, President Tatar spoke to the Turkish Agency Cyprus (TAK) and reported that the Security Forces Commander informed him that the fire is mostly under control.
Despite the progress, President Tatar emphasized that efforts to cool the area will persist. He mentioned that a helicopter from Turkey completed 16 sorties before returning, and the helicopter belonging to the Security Forces Command will continue its work.
President Tatar expressed his gratitude to the Security Forces Command, Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Command, municipalities, Civil Defense Organization, fire brigade, and volunteers for their efforts. He also highlighted the ongoing work to find new ways to effectively respond to the fire.
Drawing from past experiences with fires, President Tatar acknowledged the successful coordination among institutions and organizations in managing the current situation.
