First Smart Kindergarten in Hungary Opens in Budapest: A Look Inside

An incredible new facility has opened up in Budapest, offering children a unique learning experience. Hungary’s first smart kindergarten is now welcoming small kids who can learn the basics of coding and spend their day in a bilingual environment to learn English.
The inauguration ceremony of this innovative kindergarten took place in Angyalföld, the 13th district of Budapest, where a humanoid robot named Pepper greeted everyone. The complete renovation of the building cost HUF 2.7 billion (EUR 6.85 million), funded by local taxpayers and began in 2022.
The local council believes in starting the development of digital skills at an early age, and the district’s mayor, József Tóth, emphasizes the importance of educating future generations to use digital technologies intentionally.
The newly renovated kindergarten building features a fitness room, various green spaces, a studio, a smart room, and even a salt room. Kids can enjoy climbing walls inside the building, and the kitchen facilities on both floors are connected by a dumbwaiter. The green roof is equipped with solar panels for energy efficiency.
Equipped with digital devices, the smart room allows kids to learn the basics of coding, experiment with cooking in the school kitchen, create art pieces in the studio, and even be monitored by parents via cameras. Pepper, the humanoid robot, is available at the helpdesk to assist with any queries.
Children can also learn code writing with BeeBot, which helps develop their logical thinking skills. The mayor emphasizes that the kindergarten promotes the development of social and emotional skills alongside technological learning.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide children with a holistic and enriching learning experience, setting them up for success in the digital age.
