Looking to include fish in your New Year’s Eve feast at home? Good news – prices for popular varieties like anchovy, mullet, horse mackerel, and whiting have been slashed to just 100 TL. If you’re in the mood for salmon, it’s available for 200 TL, while sea bass and sea bream are priced at 300 TL, and turbot at 800 TL.
Fisherman Onurcan Köse shared that prices have been reduced by almost half, encouraging more consumption of fish in 2025. Despite recent bad weather causing a slight increase in prices, customers are flocking to the stalls to take advantage of the affordable offerings. Köse emphasized that the abundance of fish this year has led to economical prices, creating a positive outlook for the upcoming year.
In a special promotion for New Year’s Eve, anchovy that was priced at 200 TL per kilo yesterday is now available for just 100 TL. Similarly, mullet, whiting, and horse mackerel can also be purchased for 100 TL each. Salmon, sea bass, and sea bream are being sold for 200 TL, 300 TL, and 300 TL respectively. And for those looking for a luxurious option, turbot is on offer for 800 TL.
Reflecting on the past year, Köse expressed satisfaction with the abundance and affordability of fish, predicting that the trend will continue into 2025. With anchovies already selling for a mere 100 TL, he foresees increased consumption of fish by citizens throughout the year. As long as prices remain competitive, it seems that 2025 will be a seafood lover’s dream.
