Food Inspection Report Finds Excessive Plant Protection Products in 7 Products – BRTK

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has released the results of its weekly food inspections, revealing that one imported product and six domestic products were found to contain plant protection products above or at the limit.
During the food inspections conducted between 4-10 April, samples from both imported and domestic products were analyzed at the State Laboratory and compared against European Union Pesticide Limits.
Out of the 24 samples taken from imported products, 23 were found to be clean. However, a plant protection product was detected at the limit in cherry tomatoes from Svs Tic. Ltd. Ltd. The Ministry announced that the product will be returned to its place of origin at the company’s request.
For domestic products, 18 out of the 24 samples tested clean, while 2 products were classified as not recommended and 4 products contained plant protection products at the limit.
In specific cases, non-recommended plant protection products were found in strawberries from Hasan Çolak in Yedidalga Village and spinach from Ulus Kızılyürek in Akçay Village. These products have been ordered for destruction.
Furthermore, two different strawberry products from Behiye Pekdoğan in Yedidalga, a bunch of tomatoes from Unicap Enterpress Ltd. in Gunesköy, and Valenia Oranges from Hasan Sindeli in Akçay were found to contain plant protection products at the limit. Harvesting of these products has been halted until further laboratory analysis.
The Ministry’s food inspections aim to ensure the safety and adherence to regulations in food products available in the market. Consumers are advised to be cautious and aware of the quality of products they purchase for their health and well-being.
