Foreign Affairs Ministry condemns ‘Black propaganda’ in reaction to Famagusta situation
The Ministry of Turkey recently took to social media to criticize a series called ‘Famagusta’ that is set to be broadcast on a digital platform. The Ministry stated that the series serves as black propaganda for the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus and distorts historical facts.
In the post shared on social media, it was emphasized that the series is a disrespectful portrayal of the Turkish Cypriots who were massacred by Greek Cypriot gangs between 1963 and 1974. The Ministry condemned the attempt to rewrite history and expressed determination to fight for the national cause of Cyprus.
TRNC President Tatar also joined in the criticism, stating that the series misrepresents the Cyprus Operation and serves as a form of propaganda. He urged for respect for the memories of the veterans and martyrs of Cyprus.
The controversy surrounding the series ‘Famagusta’ highlights the sensitivity of historical events and the importance of portraying them accurately. The Ministry and TRNC President Tatar’s strong reaction to the series reflects the deep respect and reverence for the sacrifices made by Turkish Cypriots during a tumultuous period in Cyprus’s history.
