Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Emphasizes Moderation and Common Sense in Syria Statement

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the importance of not attributing the incidents in Syria to any specific sect or religious group. In a recent social media post, he shared that a historical meeting took place in Jordan, where representatives from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan gathered to address the chronic issues of the region and propose regional initiatives.
Fidan expressed their commitment to supporting the newly established government in Syria and their stance against Israel’s expansionist policies in the region. He condemned any attempts to force Palestinians from their homes in Gaza, stating that Gaza is Palestinian territory and will remain so.
During the meeting, a decision was made to establish a joint operation and intelligence mechanism to combat the terrorist organization DAESH. Fidan highlighted the importance of acting together to promote regional peace and security, noting that the Five Security Summit was a significant step in this direction.
In response to recent efforts to exploit social fault lines in Syria, Fidan stressed the need for moderation and common sense in dealing with provocations aimed at fueling sectarian conflict. He underlined the importance of unity in addressing the region’s challenges and announced that Turkey would host the next meeting.
Overall, Fidan’s statements reflect a commitment to cooperation and dialogue in addressing the complex issues facing the region, and a determination to prevent any actions that could escalate tensions or lead to further conflict.
