Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan: Lebanon’s Developments Prove Our Predictions Right
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan of Turkey recently held a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Jordanians Living Abroad Ayman Safadi. During the conference, Minister Fidan made strong statements regarding the situation in Gaza and Israel’s role in the region.
Minister Fidan emphasized that Israel has become the main threat to international peace and security. He warned that if a ceasefire was not achieved in Gaza, the conflict could spread to other countries, citing recent developments in Lebanon as evidence. Minister Fidan stressed the importance of establishing a permanent ceasefire in Gaza in order to reduce tensions and work towards peace in the region. He also expressed support for the Palestinian state and reiterated the need for a two-state solution alongside Jordan.
In addition to discussing the situation in Gaza, Minister Fidan highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in addressing issues in the Middle East and the Caucasus. He mentioned ongoing consultations with Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries on the Palestine issue, as well as the upcoming third meeting of the Regional Cooperation Platform in the South Caucasus. The meeting, scheduled for October 18 in Istanbul, will be attended by Foreign Ministers from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, and the Russian Federation.
As tensions continue to escalate in the region, Minister Fidan’s statements underscore the importance of diplomacy, cooperation, and dialogue in working towards peace, stability, and cooperation in the Middle East and the South Caucasus.
