Foreign Minister Meets with UNICEF Turkmenistan Director
Strengthening Cooperation: Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan
On June 12, 2024, a significant meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the newly appointed Head of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Office in Turkmenistan, Jalpa Ratna.
During the meeting, Jalpa Ratna presented her credentials to Minister Meredov, marking the official start of her role as UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan.
Minister Meredov congratulated Jalpa Ratna on her appointment and expressed his well wishes for her success in enhancing cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF. Both parties acknowledged the positive existing cooperation and engaged in discussions on priority areas for further development of their relationship.
The Minister highlighted Turkmenistan’s comprehensive approach to child health and development, emphasizing the country’s commitment to improving the well-being of its children. Furthermore, they discussed the ongoing UNICEF Country Program for Turkmenistan (2021-2025) which focuses on governance for children, child health, nutrition, social protection, and inclusive education. The Minister also praised the efforts of the Charitable Foundation named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in providing medical services for children in need.
Jalpa Ratna expressed her dedication to deepening the partnership between UNICEF and Turkmenistan in various areas of interest, aiming to expand the scope of their collaboration and strengthen the legal framework for mutual cooperation.
The meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the UNICEF Representative signifies a commitment to working together towards the common goal of improving the well-being of children in Turkmenistan and ensuring a bright future for the country’s youth.
