Foul Odor Detected in Sakarya River – Urgent Bulletin
An investigation has been launched on the Sakarya River in Turkey after citizens reported a strong smell coming from the river. Sakarya Governorship announced that initial measurements showed that the river water values were below the danger limit.
The smell, which originated from the Sakarya River passing through the Erenler district of Sakarya, prompted authorities to take action. AFAD, fire brigade, natural gas officials, and police teams were dispatched to the river and its surroundings where chemical substances were allegedly spilled.
Intensive studies were conducted to identify the source of the odor, with samples being taken from the Sakarya River. In a statement released by Sakarya Governorship, it was reassured that the river water values were below the danger limit in the first measurements.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and investigate the cause of the smell in the Sakarya River to ensure the safety of the environment and the citizens living nearby.
