Four-Story Building Evacuated in Tuzla

A building in the Icmeler neighborhood was evacuated last night after the sound of cracks were heard, sparking fears of a collapse. The incident took place at 00.30 in the four-story building, which consists of 9 apartments and 2 workplaces. Upon arriving at the scene, police, firefighters, AFAD, and police teams quickly responded to the situation.
Initial investigations revealed that the building was at risk of collapse, prompting authorities to evacuate the residents as a precautionary measure. The road was also closed to traffic, and security measures were implemented by AFAD and police teams. Citizens who were evacuated were advised to stay with relatives for the night.
Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl confirmed that a release letter had been written in 2023 regarding the building. He expressed gratitude to the fire department, AFAD, and police for their prompt response. Mayor Bingöl assured the public that while there were no immediate concerns about the building’s structural integrity, necessary measures would be taken in 2023 to address any issues.
One of the building residents, Mehmet Sahin, recounted the incident, stating that neighbors had alerted them to evacuate around midnight. Sahin praised the quick response of the municipality, firefighters, police, and AFAD teams, acknowledging that further decisions would be made following assessments.
As authorities continue to monitor the situation, residents are urged to prioritize safety and follow any instructions provided by officials.
