Fox caught in Bosphorus fishing incident shocks onlookers
A heroic act was carried out last night in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, as Özay Yıldız rescued a fox from the sea. Yıldız, who had gone out on a fishing trip with his friends, noticed the animal struggling in the water and immediately took action.
After spotting the fox, Özay Yıldız jumped into the sea, swam to the animal, and brought it safely aboard the boat. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Yıldız contacted the teams of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, who later took custody of the fox.
In an interview, Yıldız shared his experience, stating that the fox appeared to have fallen into the sea while being chased by dogs near the coast of Beykoz or Sarıyer. Describing the rescue operation, Yıldız explained, “The animal was trying to swim, almost begging to be saved. Despite the late hour and darkness, we managed to lift the animal out of the sea using a squeegee.”
The fox, which had been in the water for several hours, was cold and had swallowed water. Thanks to Özay Yıldız’s quick thinking and brave actions, the animal was saved from a potentially tragic fate. This heartwarming story of compassion and courage serves as a reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation and protection.
